Amish camping

October 13-14

We decided to take a little "camping" trip up to Amish country in Millersburg, OH. We all drove up and my family drove down and we met in the middle. We stayed at these cute little Amish cabins that are owned by and located behind Miller's Bakery. We made sure to get our free donuts when we checked in since we knew they wouldn't be open on Sunday.

We spent the day Saturday at Yoder's Farm. They are an Amish farm that does house tours, a barn tour, a school house tour (that we missed), and buggy rides. It was really neat going on the tour and learning a little bit more about the Amish and their beliefs. It was also interesting to see inside an Amish home.

It was such beautiful country. We had a beautiful view from our cabins. I loved hearing the clickity clank as horse and buggies went down the road below. We would have loved to eat at one of the Amish restaurants but the lines were literally hundreds of people long. We ended up at a Swedish restaurant I believe which was directly across from the cheese factory.

The cousins all had so much fun playing together. At the place where we stayed they had a swing set with slide and a trampoline. While the swing set was fun they had a blast all jumping on the trampoline together. I hope we get to do this again before our time in Kentucky is up! 

  Deb actually has family that came from that area up in Ohio. She brought along some of her family history and showed us a cemetery where some of her ancestors are buried. That was a nice way to end our trip on Sunday.
